Summer Watering Restrictions l Garage Doors I Port Moody News l

Important notice about watering our lawns, plants, trees and shrubs, during the summer months

Residents of Treetops, we need your help watering the plants, grass and trees in the common areas adjacent to your homes. Lawn watering is allowed only from 4 AM to 9AM and 7PM to10PM, on Thursdays and Sundays.Gardens, shrubs, trees and flower beds may be watered at any time.

In previous years during long hot dry spells of weather, a lot of our plants and trees in the common areas dried up and died because of lack of water. The original planting was expensive to put in and it is expensive to replace it.

Please help to keep the grounds at Treetops looking green and beautiful. Our homes look better and maintain their value.

CITY OF PORT MOODY SUMMER WATERING RESTRICTIONS
INFORMATION FOR PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT OF STAGE 1 RESTRICTIONS
That applies to Treetops

  • That lawn sprinkling is allowed only from 4 AM to 9AM and 7PM to10PM.
  • That Treetops, may water lawns only on Thursdays and Sundays.
  • That these sprinkling regulations apply only to lawns, and not to gardens, shrubs, trees and flower beds.
  • That when washing a boat or motor vehicle other than at commercial car wash, water hoses must be equipped with an automatic shut-off device (eg., a nozzle that shuts off automatically unless hand pressure is applied).

Maintenance of vine plants

It has been observed that owners have planted various climbing vines on trellises and strings. We request owners to ensure that the plants do not grow into the soffits or onto roofs. The vines provide an easy means of access for rodents. Please carry out the regular pruning and maintenance of these plants to ensure the building is protected.

Thank you,
The Grounds Committee.

GARAGE DOORS

The Strata Corporation’s Building & Grounds Committee has been inspecting the property, and has noted that several garage doors are sagging and bulging. These problems can be easily rectified by adjusting the travel on the garage door, so that it stops just above the cement level. Should the door travel too far, it will bulge, which will over time damage the panels. The maintenance of garage doors is the responsibility of the owner, and we recommend that the doors be adjusted regularly, and, if necessary, be serviced by certified contractor.

If you are planning to replace your garage door, you must make a written request to your Strata Council before proceeding.

Garage door specifications:

  • Steel-Craft Thermocraft Door (T-12)
  • 6 panel with or without windows
  • windows shall be 2 Williamsburg 4 inserts windows per door
  • Colour - to match your existing door - specify either Almond (QC 5735) (light cream colour) or Sandstone (QC 6411) (darker colour).

Council confirmed that there are three garage door colours currently on the property, those being a cream, gray and dark taupe colour. Manufacturers of the Steel-Craft Doors do not produce a gray colour door. In reviewing the colours available, it has been determined that the colours identified in the amended bylaws at the last Annual General Meeting will stand, that being the almond coloured door from Steel-Craft will be the replacement door for the existing cream colour doors, and that the sandstone colour Steel-Craft door will be the replacement colour for the current dark taupe or gray coloured doors.

It was recognized that none of the available colours with Steel-Craft are exact match of current colours; however, it is the conclusion of Council that they are appropriate and attractive alternatives. It was further recognized that in the future, as owners do replace their garage doors and there is repainting, this would be an opportunity to slightly change some of the trim colours to perhaps better complement the garage door colour.

In conclusion, anyone wishing to proceed with the garage door replacement will be expected to apply for the replacement through the Strata Council and will be advised that if they have the cream coloured door they will proceed with the purchase of an almond door, and if they have a gray or dark taupe coloured garage door currently they would be directed to purchase a Steel Craft sandstone colour door as specified in the bylaws.

It was the intention of Council to advise that Versatile Door Service Ltd., is not the only supplier of Steel Craft doors, and owners are free to seek competitive prices from alternate suppliers of Seel-Craft doors. The alternatives must of course match exactly the specifications as set out in the bylaws.

A list of Lower Mainland Steel-Craft Door dealers can be found on their web site: steel-craft.ca. Also see the Steel-Craft Thermocraft Door (T-12) Brochure PDF.
